I gave a virtual seminar on the many faces of performance-based earthquake engineering for Professor Marco Gallegos’ class at the Departamento de Ingeniería Civil y Ambiental, Universidad del Bío-Bío, Chile.
I presented ongoing work on a framework for selecting representative earthquake scenarios for Wellington at the 2025 NZSEE Annual Technical Meeting in Auckland. Part of the Selection of Earthquake Scenarios for Wellington project, funded by Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake.
I was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship to work on resilience enhancement through multi-hazard recovery analysis of earthquake and flood-affected infrastructure. I’ll be joining Professor Carmine Galasso at UCL in January 2026.
I gave a seminar on seismic risk models and their role in shaping risk reduction policies at the Department of Earthquake Engineering, IIT Roorkee.
I joined a panel on livelihood and sustainable development at the 12th Eastern Himalaya Naturenomics Forum in Guwahati, organized by Balipara Foundation. I drew on the exposure-hazard-vulnerability framework to argue that reducing risk for agro-based communities in one of the world’s most climate-exposed regions requires simultaneous action on all three fronts — not just hazard mitigation alone.
A busy week at the 18th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering in Milan. I presented on quantifying variability in collapse risk of non-ductile RC shear wall buildings in the Seismic Resilience of Aging Communities session — part of my PhD project on collapse risk of non-ductile concrete shear wall buildings.
